About

Dan Stewart-Moore lives in regional New South Wales and holds a PhD in Visual Arts from the Australian National University. His works are driven by the challenge of social issues within the nexus of humanity, nature and technology.

His discipline of sculpture is uniquely placed to explore such interests. The use of industrial techniques, specialised tools, large amounts of exotic materials and intensive physical labor provoke existential questions - leading him to philosophers such as Heidegger.

Experimentation with steel, timber and stone, although striking, proved unsatisfying. Recycled materials open pathways that allow him to create works of art that visually connect with his passion, but also demonstrate that an ethical balance between humanity, nature and technology is possible within the discipline of sculpture.
